Guru Ram Das, the fourth Sikh guru, may have created Amritsar as recently as the 16th century. The history and traditions, on the other hand, establish a legendary relationship between the location and the Hindu epic Ramayana. It is thought that Maharishi Valmiki's ashram is where Sita gave birth to her twins, Lav and Kush, in Amritsar. The Golden Temple, the Sikhs' holiest site, is located in this city, which is steeped in Sikhism's history.

Jallianwala Bagh, on the other hand, continues to depict Amritsar's crucial role in the country's freedom movement. Fascinating legends, religious structures, historic edifices, bustling bazaars, vibrant festivals, and delectable cuisine combine to make it a popular tourist destination.

The city is situated on the banks of the Beas River and is home to the Golden Temple, one of India's seven wonders. The city is named Guru ki Nagari after Guru Ram Das, the Sikh guru who created the city, since it celebrates the Sikh religion's values and traditions.
